From the Library of C. S. Lewis is a distillation of those texts which influenced Lewis’ thoughts and writings. Many of us are grateful for these primary sources which enabled him to be such a help to others.
A Day with C. S. Lewis Blog is now turning its focus to those books which Lewis himself wrote and will invite discussion on how each has impacted our individual minds and hearts.
Hopefully as we interact together on Lewis’ writings we will gain new insights on how to deepen our spiritual lives.
In this process we will keep in mind how God’s eternal Word is the foundation for every aspect of the Christian life.
“For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope” (Romans 15:4 NKJV).

Mere Christianity was a great book by Lewis that helped me to understand many things about the Christian life that I hadn’t before. It also provides a great apologetic argument.
One of my favorite practical quotes from the book: “…after one’s original conversion, every time one thinks one has made an advance, [this] is the test to apply. Fine feelings, new insights, greater interest in ‘religion’ mean nothing unless they make our actual behaviour better, just as in an illness ‘feeling better’ is not much good if the thermometer shows that your temperature is still going up.”
The Screwtape Letters was another good (and humorous) read that contains many insights about demons, God, and the inner battle for the mind and heart of every human.

Thanks for your thoughts, Raynor. Certainly, Mere Christian has become an enduring classic in the field of Christian apologetics. Interestingly, Screwtape Letters helped put Lewis on the cover of Time Magazine in 1947.

That is a good quote Raynor and a great reminder that it is most important to live our faith and just not talk it.
